Open Source Software (OSS) has the power to disrupt industries and break up monopolies, because of this we believe it to be the future for all technology related business concepts moving forward. We believe that traditional Venture Capital as we saw it in the last 10 years is dead or dying in this new economy and so we are developing new tactics and connections to better help companies survive in this new age. The San Diego business scene has always been filled with major government contractors and Mobile Industry leaders causing the city to be seen as a difficult place for a Start-up to really get noticed. That is changing now as more and more smaller companies either begin here or move out and the technological infrastructure improves. The pool of talent and concepts are ballooning in both technology as well as other sectors and so we are working to be apart of that growth slowly and deliberately. BastosVentures is always looking to partner up with other investors and venture capital firms in an attempt to better fund our current and future investments. Our decision to base our firm out of San Diego came at a time when we saw an increase in technology related workers looking less and less for stable and wanting to build something with lasting value. We have also created a Required Reading program for all new companies which helps us better inform our Entrepreneurs of our philosophies and strategies while allowing us to train and teach them in the process.
